Missionaries' son has tumor

Elias Gappmayr, the 6-year-old son of missionaries Richard and Carmen Gappmayr in the Philippines, was experiencing problems with his balance last week and has now been diagnosed with a golf ball sized tumor on the brain.

The Gappmayrs at first took Elias to see an eye doctor thinking that the cross-eyed condition would require new glasses. They were then referred to a neurologist where an MRI revealed the tumor.

Fluid has already accumulated in his brain and Elias was hospitalized for treatment to relieve the pressure on the brain before undergoing surgery.

Elias was safely transported to Cebu yesterday by NTM Aviation and was admitted to the hospital. Surgery is scheduled for Friday (Thursday evening in the USA). A team of doctors is being assembled to assist with the surgery.

Please pray that all those involved in the care and surgery will have wisdom and that God will guide them skillfully through the procedure.
