In the 'waiting shed'
Just a five-mile hike outside of the village sits a little shelter in the corner of a cornfield. This is where the head of the trail that takes you to the Ga’dang people is marked clearly.
The waiting shed has been a place of rest and cover for many including the missionary team. Dennis and Valerie Easton are hoping that with the expectation of a new baby in a few months, they will be able to use the helicopter to get in and out.
By the time they get to the “waiting shed” often it has already taken quite a few hours, so the idea of a short easier trip with the helicopter is something they were looking forward to upon their return from their home assignment.
It was hard to discover that the helicopter has been down for repairs and will be going through quite a process before it is in service again.
Three aviation guys are working hard to get the helicopter repaired. One has come from the USA to help in this time of need. Not only will they need to get the extensive precision repairs done, but the necessary test flights to ensure that all is well. This can take a while.
For now the Eastons are waiting in a small town from which they usually get their supplies flown in. Dennis and co-worker Chuck Talbot have used the waiting shed several times now as they’ve taken the hike in with supplies to do needed repairs on the homes.
So while it’s not what Dennis and Valerie expected upon their return, they’ve chosen to use this waiting time to prepare for their living in the village as well as prepare language learning lessons for the coming year.
They are confident that this is what the Lord has for them, but anxious to get moved in among the people that God has called them to minister to.
Pray for these missionaries and others who depend on the aircraft to be a part of speeding the gospel to those who need to hear.
You can help pay for missionary aviation flight service missionaries -- flights they would otherwise pay for from their own pockets. $250 sponsors an hour of flight time.
